Peter David Novak passed away peacefully and into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the age of 86. Peter was born in Chicago on January 13, 1931 to Peter and Gladys Novak. He loved to share fond memories of growing up on the south side, playing softball in the street, attending Lane Technical High School, helping at his father’s gas station and eating his mother’s wonderful Polish cooking. He attended Illinois Institute of Technology on Navy Pier. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. After serving his country he completed his degree in electrical engineering and dedicated his entire professional career, 40 years, to Motorola. Peter and Yvonne Eva Marton married on August 12, 1961 and they built a home and a family in Arlington Heights, Illinois. There they raised two children, Suzanne Lynn and Peter David. Peter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather of four. He retired and moved to Texas and enjoyed a fulfilling life with travel, reading, enjoying his grandchildren, and always learning something new. As a lifelong Cub fan his wildest dreams were fulfilled in 2016 and he can rest easy now. He was committed to preserving family memories by making photo presentations on the computer that were enjoyed by all. Peter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvonne, and their two children: Suzanne (Joe) Mumme and Peter (Angela) Novak along with four grandchildren, Nicholas, Bradley, Katrina, and PJ. His surviving family members also include brothers James (Marilyn), Robert (Carol), and sister Nanci Burns along with nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights where funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 1 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
