Nick Nicholas, 92 of Mt. Prospect was born August 27, 1927 in Chicago and passed away April 18, 2020. Nick grew up in the Chicago area and served as a United States Navy Medic in WWII, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. In his earlier years he owned a barber shop in Mt. Prospect. His 2nd career was in optics where he owned his own business in Glenview. Nick served as President of TPC at Prospect High School and spearheaded “Lights for Knights” which helped light up the school’s football stadium. Nick served as President of the Albanian American Orthodox Church and President of the Albanian American National Organization. He believed in giving to others and spent much of his Christmas season playing Santa Clause to many children throughout the Arlington Heights and Mt. Prospect communities. Nick has always been known as a ‘teddy bear” with a heart of gold. He is cherished by family and friends and will be dearly missed. Nick was the beloved husband of Mary (Bitta) Nicholas and they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June; loving father of Catherine (Ken) Balinski, Cindy (Rick) Marcinkowski and Craig (Joanne) Nicholas; cherished grandfather of Brian (Jennifer) Balinski, Steve Balinski, Nicholas Marcinkowski, Loren (Jeffrey) Newman, Adam Nicholas and Ben Nicholas; dear brother of Christine Cosma; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and brother-in-law of Lea Bitta. Funeral Services and interment will be private.
