Remembering Mike and his family.

I can still see Mike as a freshman in my English class at Saint Viator High School.  I will always remember his smile and laugh.

and who has been physically taken from us.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Joe was a strong influence in my life -- spanning 7th-12th grade in the 1980s across basketball and football.  I remember Michael as a toddler in such settings on the tail end of that.   My heart sincerely aches for Joe, Nancy, and Katherine.

I only found out today about the passing of Michael Michael played basketball for me at St Viator  I've never known a more friendly decent young man in my life Joe Nancy I am heartbroken

Please know you are all in the prayers of the Bates family.  Michael was one of our son Tommy’s first and best friends at St. Peter preschool.  They both like sports, Ninja Turtles and having fun as four and five year old boys do.  Later your daughter Katie was preschool friends with our twins Andy and Betsy.  Surely our Lord welcomed Michael to heaven with wide open arms.  Wishing you all God’s peace today and always.  Sue

Dear Joe, Nancy, and Katie,

As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus at Saint Viator High School, I want to formally offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator High School community, as well as my own.  We are all so deeply saddened by Mike’s death.  Our hearts go out to you as you move through your journey of grief.  You are in our prayers as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and find ways to Mike’s life.

We are certainly proud to “claim” Mike, a “beloved son…dear brother…and cherished grandson…whose incredible personality and smile will be greatly missed by all” as an alumnus.  The photos posted on this Tribute Wall, with Mike always smiling…surrounded by family and friends, certainly reflect Mike’s zest for life and the love he shared with so many.  I am reminded of a reading from the Book of Sirach. 

Let us praise an illustrious man,
faithful to his family and friends, strong in his love.
At peace in his heart and his world,
he has left us his good name, and we recount his life of praiseworthy deeds.
A generous man his good works will never be forgotten.
Among his family and friends remains a rich inheritance born of 	him….
His name lives on from generation to generation.
We gather to sing his praises.
We proclaim his wisdom and love of life all our days.

We want you to know that Saint Viator will remember Mike and celebrate the fact that Mike continues to be a member of our community.  In October we will send you information about our annual Alumni Memorial Mass, which will be celebrated around All Soul’s Day.  Also in October a small plaque with Mike’s name will be placed on our wall in the chapel along with the names of other deceased alumni from Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary.  

May memories of Mike and the laughter and love you shared comfort you!
May the knowledge Mike lives on in your goodness give you peace and hope!

I remember Mike being a ball boy at first for the Lions when Joe was coaching. He was so active and looked like he was always having fun on the court. Next thing I knew he was playing for St.Viator. The coaching. He loved his basketball and made good impressions on others.

Michael was one of those students who always smiled when he saw you, of course behind that impish smile was always a question of what he was up to.  He was a great kid who went on to coach SVHS basketball players and taught them so much more than just skills.  His death is such a tragic loss for his family, and all who loved him.  The Lord bless him and hold him close. 

Mike was our "baby" brother. We doted on him like big siblings. We were so proud of him and bragged about how good he was at hitting a baseball in my moms family room or slam dunking on his fisher price hoop set. He repeatedly beat my sister at Super Mario bros. and then they'd bicker just like real siblings. 
 One time we made him Spaghettio's with meatballs for lunch. It was a Friday...he started fussing that he couldn't eat that for lunch. When we asked why? he told us because its Friday and I can't eat meat. We fished out the meatballs. I don't know why that makes me laugh.
 He was so much fun to babysit. I could pull him in his red little tykes car up and down the driveway for hours. One time he even fell asleep in it. He made me laugh.  I remember him asking us "does your face hurt?" no. Why?  "because its killing me!!!" and then he would laugh and laugh and laugh. It never got old and he never got tired of it. Neither did we. 
When I was old enough to drive I remember getting the task of dropping him off at st. James. I felt as nervous  as a new mom when he hopped out of the car and ran to the door. I always waited until he got to the school yard and in the safety of his teachers before I could pull away. He felt like family. I loved him. He was a joy to be around. 
This is a huge loss. Nancy, Joe and Katie I hope his memory brings you joy and that the sound of his laughter never fades from your ears. Love you guys.

We are so saddened to hear of Mike's passing.  We have lost a terrific friend and neighbor.  So many great memories to share!  Mike, Peter and their buddies; just hangin' out, sleepovers and  of course, St. James hoops!  Always joking, laughing and smiling!  And who could forget post game stops at McDonalds and Boston Market! (Yes, Boston Market!)

Mike was always the quiet leader.  He never wanted the attention or the spotlight.  But when you needed one guy to step up, more often than not, it was Mike.  Simply who he was.

We have been blessed to know him and have him be a part of our lives.  Lord knows, the world needs a lot more Mike's!  We will miss him.

Mike & Jeff were good buds for many years. They were goofy and silly and may have caused a few gray hairs on the heads of the sweet St. James teachers. I am so sorry for the family.  The Moroney family will pray for Mike's safe passage into Heaven and the peace and support to be able to process this heartbreaking news. I'm sure Jeff will be waiting there to help welcome him in. God Bless you all. 

The Mike I remember was always smiling.  Just mentioning his name brings up a vision of him playing basketball with my son Jeff and flying by on the way to make a basket.  He was a light to his friends and so sad to have to say he will be missed.  The world has a new hole in it - Mike, say to hello to Jeff!

 My condolences on such a devastating loss.  I did not know Mike, but I know you are both very kind, loving, and faith filled people so he had good role models. My prayers are for all of you.  May Mike rest in the Arms of His Maker.

My memory of a younger Mike was he was always calm, happy and smiling. I watched him play basketball in 6th, 7th and 8th grade and knew he was so comfortable sharing the ball and playing team ball. I’m sorry to hear this news and will pray for his family’s peace and confidence in Christ Jesus.  

I will always remember how Mike was the enemy at St.James, always destroying us (St.Emily) on the basketball court.  Then, in high school we became great friends on and off the court.  As a point guard he would always be setting up his teammates for an easy “bucket”.   I will always remember him with a grin on his face, thinking of an inside joke?  He was a great friend, teammate, and person.  Rip Mikey🙏

Michael's positive attitude and his easy-going nature will be greatly missed.  He exemplified what being a terrific coworker is all about with his patience, follow-through, and sense of urgency.  He was genuinely a really nice person and I’m going to miss him very much.  Gone way too soon, though I know he will not be forgotten.  My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends.  

Mike, our fun loving nephew and cousin. You always attended every family gathering we had and we could always count on your cheerful smile and fun personality. You always engaged in whatever was going on and contributed to the conversation and lots  of times came up with a funny comment. You are now I in heaven with Jesus and all the other family members that have gone before us. Mike we all love you and we will always remember you as one great guy❤️  The Olson family

Coach Mike Moj was an incredible human and coach. He was a pivotal part of why our 2009-2010 boys basketball team was so successful. He anchored the defense and scout team, but ultimately he was regarded as the "players" coach. As he always looked out for the players best interest. Coach Moj will always have a special place in all of the 2009-2010 Saint Viator basketball teams heart. He was beloved by everyone and had such a genial way about him. 

My thoughts and prayers are with him!
