Mary Marie Mattes

Mary Marie Mattes, 89, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, in Park Ridge, IL. Born on April 5, 1935, Mary was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life, known for her easy-going nature and warm presence.

Mary was the loving matriarch of a large and close-knit family. She is survived by her children, Donna (Robert), Susan (Phillip), and Martin (Michelle); her grandchildren, Scott (Renee), Nikki, Jason, Rebecca (Paul), Eric (Caitlin), Jordan, Jenna, and Samantha; her great-grandchildren, Kylie, Leah, Aiden, Blake, and Charlotte; and her sisters, Josephine and Rosie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her daughter Sandra; her parents, Frank and Rose Caruso; and her siblings, Felix, Carl, Leona, Ignatius, and Anna.

Mary's life was filled with simple pleasures; she loved family get togethers, playing bingo, solving puzzles, and enjoyed a musical now and then. These hobbies brought her joy and were a source of countless cherished memories for her family.

A series of services to honor Mary's life will be held starting with visitations on December 13, from 5 pm to 8 pm, and on December 14, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights. Prayers will commence at 9:30 am followed by a Mass at Saint James Catholic Church at 10:00 am on December 14. Mary will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens at 11:30 am, with a luncheon to follow.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Foundation. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on through the many lives she touched.
