Loving wife, devoted mother, loyal sister, best friend…terms that only begin to describe our beloved Kari Karnatz/Toriani/Moore, who passed away peacefully April 12, 2025, from a brief illness. The weight of our grief is matched only by the fullness of our memories from Kari’s resilient and fully-lived 53 years on this side of Heaven.
With humor, a sharp mind, and the ultimate YOLO attitude of life, Kari left an indelible mark on family, friends and coworkers alike. She rarely met a stranger. This ability to connect served her well in her 22-year career as a top sales rep for Judge & Dolph and Breakthru Beverage, jobs that made her part of the city’s fabric and allowed her to touch the lives of so many vendors, suppliers and customers.
Born in 1971 in Mt. Prospect, Kari spent her formative years alongside sisters Cheryl, Suzanne and Kim helping parents Al and Sandi operate North-Wheel farms, a bustling family farm and nursery in Northbrook. After graduating from Hersey HS in 1990, she attended the University of Illinois, where she majored in marketing and joined Tri Delta sorority. Upon graduating, she parlayed a flair for fashion and a strong work ethic into a successful first career as a merchandising/sales manager for a boutique fashion designer. When Brooke was born in 2001, followed by Miles in 2003, Kari temporarily hung up her high heels to become a stay-at-home mom.
Kari loved traveling, especially scuba diving in the Caribbean, and recently enjoyed amazing trips to Panama, Italy, Spain, California and Cabo.
Standing by Kari’s side for her travels, her daily highs and lows, and her final breath was her best friend, husband and soulmate Brian Moore. Love never dies. Kari’s zest for life and devotion to family lit a flame that will continue warming us through the months and years, and whenever we gather she will not be far.
She is survived by husband Brian, children Brooke and Miles, mother Sandi, sisters Cheryl (Ray), Suzanne, Kim (Jordan), step children Brad (Harmony), Jessica (Anil) and Alex, and a posse of cousins, nephews, nieces, inlaws and countless friends.
A visitation for Kari will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
