Karen J. Kallman, of Palatine passed away December 5, 2020. Karen grew up in Jackson, Michigan and at the age of 18 was awarded the title of “Miss Jackson”. After graduation from Michigan State University, she moved to Chicago as an executive with Western Electric Corporation. She met Dave at a party, and after 8 phone calls, she finally agreed to a date. They were married in 1981 and raised two boys, Don and Dan. Their friends loved to hang out at “Mrs. K’s” house where they were always treated with lots of love and attention. No mother was ever more caring and supportive. Karen especially loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed spoiling her little granddaughter, the only girl in the family. She was a force of nature, larger than life, with hundreds of friends. Karen was very involved with the Woman’s Club of Inverness and Medinah Country Club where she was known as Mrs. Medinah. She was renowned for her skill in organizing and putting on large, first class charity and club events. For 15 years, she and her husband Dave held an annual golf outing in memory of her brother-in-law Jeff Kallman that raised a substantial sum that benefits the Evans Scholarship Foundation. Karen was the beloved wife of David; loving mother of Donald (Katie) Kallman and Daniel (fiancé Melissa Mancini) Kallman; cherished grandmother of Lucas and Evelyn; devoted daughter of the late Leo and Lee (Jackson) Levitz; dear sister-in-law of the late Jeff (Pam) Kallman; fond sister of the late Marcia (late Manny) Wilson; doting niece of Mary Zvetina; adored aunt of Brittany (Jordan) Gyuricza, Heather Kallman, Cheryl Buchanan, Bob Buchanan, Brian Buchanan and Tim Buchanan. Due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions, Funeral Services and Entombment will be private. A Memorial Celebration will be held next summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Karen’s name to the Women’s Club of Inverness Scholarship Fund at www.womensclubofinverness.com or you can mail your donation to Women's Club of Inverness, c/o Pat Kubera, 1567 Balmoral Drive, Inverness, IL 60067.
