Josephine "Chickie" Egan

Of Wheeling IL, formerly of Delray Beach, FL and Buffalo Grove, IL

Chickie was born February 14, 1937, in Chicago to John and Catherine (nee Roti) Donato. She died Monday, April 8, 2025, in Wheeling, IL.

She worked with her husband Ray at Standard T Chemicals in Chicago for 15 years. Then she worked for “The Beauty Parlor” in Buffalo Grove, IL where she served as the manager and did payroll for 20 years. She served as her Building Representative for the Tropic Bay Building Association for 20 years in Delray Beach, FL, she served as President of the Tropic Bay Social Club as well as the secretary for the Tropic Bay Yacht Club, did volunteer work at the Delray Beach Food Pantry and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton, FL. Chickie loved spending time with family and friends and was always the life of the party. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughters and great granddaughters, and was loved by all.

Chickie is survived by her loving children: Jan (Terry) Rohan, Patti (Steve) Zielinski and Kathy Egan; her cherished grandchildren: Jaclyn (fiancé James Smith) Hennig, Jenna (Mike) Mahoney, Kaylyn (Justin) Staudt, Amanda (fiancé Obren Sijan) Zielinski and Jillian Hennig; her dear great grandchildren: Charley and Reagan; her adoring nieces and nephew: Cathy “Kitty” (Tom Tate) Donato, Barbara Worzalla, and John (Lucy) Donato and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond, whom she married December 5, 1954, in Chicago, IL; her parents John and Catherine Donato and her brother, Frank and sister-in-law Rose Donato.

Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2025, from 10 a.m. to time of Mass 11 a.m. all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10 N Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL. Burial to follow Mass at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
