Joe was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 17, 1966, to parents Curt and Georgia (nee Kenny) Bullock Sr.
A true son of Colorado, Joe attended Rocky Mountain College and graduated with a degree in photography. He continued his life there with the mountains as his playground. Whether skiing down powder-covered slopes, biking the winding trails, teeing off on a golf course, photographing the beauty of the mountains or sleeping under the stars beside a gentle stream, Joe found peace and purpose in the great outdoors and mountain life.
Joe’s life was a blend of the unconventional and the beautifully simple. He wore many hats, from entrepreneur, pizza chef and grocery delivery-man to ski lift operator and Uber driver, sometimes all in a single day. He worked tirelessly and without complaint at whatever job came his way, but always found a way to squeeze in a few runs or a few holes. He will mostly be remembered for his touches of brilliance as a photographer and chef. His from scratch, Chicago style, deep dish pizzas were legendary, and he was always excited to make one for a new friend or loved one.
His love for cacao was like none other and he swore by its healing powers—always eager to share a cup and a conversation about its magic with anyone willing to listen.
Despite suffering from bipolar disorder throughout his adult life, Joe never let it define him. His heart was kind, his spirit free, and his smile infectious. He embodied resilience, living each day with a sense of purpose that always made sense to him.
Joe is now resting beneath the stars he loved so dearly, his spirit forever free, leaving behind countless stories of kindness and adventure. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many people whose lives he touched with his gentle heart.
Rest easy Joe, and may your next adventure be as wild and beautiful as the life you lived.
Joe is survived by his parents, Curt and Georgia Bullock Sr., his siblings, Curt (Carol) Bullock Jr., Brad (Libby) Bullock, and Kathy (Matt) Kallberg, and his nieces and nephews who got such a kick out of Uncle Joe’s adventures: Kyle, Jake, Owen, Kathryn, Charlie, Allison, Haley, Finn, Sydney and Ryder.
