Dana and family,

Sorry for the late note, but I just found out today.  I am very sorry to hear of Jan's passing, but know you and your entire family were the "gleam in Jan's eyes".  We spent many hours together regaling in stories of the girls and grandkids, Jan's experiences and his happiness driven by you.  May he rest in peace, and know that Jan positively impacted many.

It is with deepest shock and sadness these thoughts are expressed; I prefer to believe Jan is a phone call away and a trip to the Globe Pub for a few pints and a rugby match.  Our deepest sympathies to Dana, Kyle, Amy and Julie in these difficult days. You were the light in Jan's eyes.  May his keen wit and easy smile be forever in your hearts.  Jan's friendship and company will always be a blessing, his memory will forever bring a smile to the faces of all who knew him.  Rest easy my dear friend, until we meet again.

Jan I will miss talking with you on the phone and seeing you and Dana each year in Chicago.  You've been a part of my heart for so many years as a friend, mentor and brother.  Your spirit will always be a part of mine as you've transitioned into a new form.  I think of you often and will keep the beautiful holiday card you sent years ago with the photo of the cardinal taken from your window and cute photo of Derby and Piper inside.  Such a talented and creative guy in so many ways.  I am grateful for our relationship!

I first met Jan about 35 years ago, where we were in a company on the bleeding edge of research about consumer behavior.  We quickly became friends.  Over the years he was sometimes my boss, sometimes a colleague, and for a long time a business partner.   Jan had a rare talent for bring out the best in those around him, and inspired many to push into new and exciting areas of activity.  We shall miss his company.   John and Linda Totten.

Such a heavy heart when I read of the passing of Jan. There are so many memories of his wonderful humor and family good times. Prayers to Dana and family.

I hadn't seen Jan for about ten years, but from reading the messages of condolences, I can see that he hadn't changed from our high school days.  Voted "Most Cooperative" in our class, Jan was always polite and willing to help.  Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends.

We were saddened to hear of Jan's passing. He was truly a memorable classmate from Bangor High School.  We would speak on the phone every once in awhile and I was always

I tutored him in French and he brought me a bottle of Mateus wine to thank me. That was not necessary because I considered him a friend and was happy to help.  He was that type of person even in college:  generous, enthusiastic, very caring and so smart.  We will all miss him at future College events. This planet is poorer with the passing of Jan Gollins. I am very sad to hear of his passing. Jan you will be immensely missed.

Was really shocked of Jan's passing. We ran track together back at Bangor and thought highly of him.  Prayers to all family members.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Jan's passing. 

I was a student at UofC and everyone could tell Jan was always very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching marketing.  He was a demanding teacher but we learned the subject.  He will be missed.

We had the pleasure in calling Jan our friend, former coworker and all around good guy.  He loved what he did, loved the classroom and being apart of the lives of students, old and new.  He will be sorely missed.

It is with surprise and sadness I express my condolences. I worked with Jan and admired his intelligence. Despite his many academic accomplishments you could always tell his greatest pride was his family. I hope your happy memories provide comfort as you grieve your loss.

Jan "the Professor" will be missed!. A great guy and funny we had many laughs together while traveling on business over the years.  Gina and I pass along our condolences.

Dana, I am so sorry for your loss.  I was surprised by Jan's death.  Talked to him just last week about needing his signature on a form related to publication of some research he helped us with.  I hung up the phone reflecting the optimism and hope he demonstrated during the call.  He was asking about new project opportunities. Jan had a "beautiful mind"...hungry for understanding, eager to solve, happy with finding a solution - but not long satisfied.  Jan loved his craft, and made those of us who didn't understand what he was talking about love it too!  He will be greatly missed, but the impact of his thinking and creativity will long survive him.  God bless and be with you and your children at this time of loss.

Such an unforgettable and epic man! My heart is broken, and my thoughts and prayers are with you Dana and the entire Gollins family.

I am so sorry to hear the news of Jan's passing. We were friends and colleagues and served together on the Marketing Advisory Council for DePaul's marketing dept. My fondest memories were watching Jan in action putting the Chinese New Year's celebration together. He had a special relationship with foreign students. He brought joy and many chuckles to our conversations. Keep an eye out for us, OK? You will be missed.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

I just learned of this tragedy. I am so very sorry. Jan was such an inspiration, such a kind heart and soul, such a friend. I will miss him dearly.
