George was born on February 17, 1945 in Yaeger, West Virginia to Irvin and Polly Rowe. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and met his wife Gail while stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station. On February 18, 1965 they were married. They raised 3 children; Shari, Genni, and George Jr. George was a locator/inspector for Peoples Gas in Chicago for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved to be outdoors. He had a larger than life personality and everywhere he went he made a new friend. He was quick to laugh and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
George was preceded in death by his son Georgie, his parents Irvin and Polly, brother-in-law Bill Farrell and nephew Jim Rowe. He is survived by his wife Gail, his daughters Shari (Jim) Placko and Genni (Gabe) Escobedo and grandchildren Justin, Kevin, Emma, and Nate. His brothers: Curt (Virginia) and Aut (Evelyn). His sisters: Jan (Luke) Chandler, Linda Farrell, and Charlotte (Don) Lily as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews.
Due to Covid restrictions, the family will be having a private graveside service. They will have a celebration of life gathering later this summer so all friends and family can join together to remember the man we all loved so very much.
