Formerly of Arlington Heights
Edward Thomas Hill, Jr., 65, was born on November 25, 1957, to Edward Thomas Hill, Sr., and Elizabeth Marie (née Wolfrum) in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. He died peacefully on December 12, 2022, following a long illness.
Edward, better known as Ned to his friends and family, grew up in Rolling Meadows and attended Rolling Meadows High School before studying business (and skiing) at Utah State. Following graduation, he returned to Illinois to be near family. He married Catherine (née Effa) Hill in 1985 and they soon started a family in Arlington Heights.
Most of his professional life was spent in sales and marketing in the healthcare industry. He will be remembered as a devoted father who shared his love of the outdoors and the Chicago Bears with his two children, Matthew and Sara. They are grateful for the memory of early morning fishing trips in Wisconsin, countless soccer matches, and trips to see space shuttle launches in Florida. His friends will remember him for his warmth and sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Marguerite. He is survived by his son Matthew Hill (Breana Murphy) of Shoreline, WA; daughter Sara Betzig (Max) and granddaughter Charlotte Betzig of Barrington, IL; and sisters Mary Campion (Tim) of Palatine, IL, and Beth Bryant (Leslie) of Anchorage, AK. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights on December 22nd at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. The family will receive guests beginning at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Inspiration Corporation at inspirationcorp.org.
