Dorothy Pauline Rogers of Geneva, IL, formerly a resident of Arlington Heights for almost 50 years, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021 at the age of 91. She was born on June 27, 1930 in Racine, WI to Frank and Pauline Steiner, the second youngest of eight children.
Dorothy is survived by children Ken (Robin) Rogers, Tom Rogers (Christina), Mary (Mark) Lancaster, Paul (Susan ) Rogers, and Stan (Wendy) Rogalinski; grandchildren, David (Matha) Rogers, Amanda and Andrew Rogers, Jaime Rogers (Anthony), Sarah (Stephen) Krizan, Becky (Eric Pluskowsi) Rogers, Gabriel (Jennifer) Lancaster, Abigail (Chad) Heuser, Jordann (Ryan) Clark, Danielle (Micheal) McCauley, Brittany (Chris) Gaitten, Michael and Matthew Rogers, Lexi and Nikolai Rogalinski; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Dorothy left an imprint on nearly every life she touched. She counted as priceless any moments she shared with family and close friends, and she made spending that time a priority during her entire life. Most of those enjoying that time with her recognized her gift and talent for listening in a way that let you know you were valued, that in fact, while she couldn’t say it for fear of hurting someone else’s feelings, you indeed were likely her favorite child, grandchild, friend, etc.
She cherished her Catholic faith and its traditions and sought to follow God’s plan for her life daily, always deferring compliments that came her way with “I’m just doing what He wants me to do.” She was embraced by an accepting and loving AA family in 1983 and then invested herself in the lives of many women over the decades. Dorothy loved many things - all things chocolate, her Chicago Cubs, sports in general both playing and watching, competitive bridge, baking things she loved for people she loved, traveling to be with family and friends, camping, and did we say chocolate? There was nothing that brought more joy to her life than the opportunity to love on a small child, the newer the better!
Welcoming Dorothy to heaven will be her beloved husband of 65 years Stan, the mom she lost at age 19, her brothers and sisters, daughter-in-law Debby Rogers, and a host of friends made and loved over a lifetime.
