Dorothy was a wonderful neighbor and friend to my parents when they lived in Mt Prospect.  A very sweet and lovely lady.  I'm sorry for your loss.

Hey, Lin!  Do you still have that snapshot I gave you in 2001/2 of your mom.  She was standing by her car wearing a captain's hat.  That's the one my mom took of her at the end of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge adventure.  It was a great pic.  It was a happy day all around, especially for your Mom.  When you get your first set of wheels, you're on top of the world, not to mention the J.B. Bridge Adventure!  Your mom was always so positive about everything, a happy person, and it took a lot to get her down.  Anyway, now you know the whole story behind that picture.  It would be great if your brothers and Nancy could have a copy of it.  Our family and yours had so many adventures together.  For instance, I  remember one phone call we got.  It was before a church service and your mom was panicking.  Bobby had just swallowed one of your dad's cufflinks and she didn't know if she should rush Bobby to the hospital. Not to be off color, but I never did hear how that story came out (the cufflink, to be specific).  Did your mom ever tell you that story?  I will miss your dear Mom. We wish to express our sincere condolences to  the whole family.  We enjoyed each and every encounter withDorothy,  our  interesting, determined, most loving  sister-in-faith.  Unfortunately, our meetings in the past 15 years have been few, since we moved an ocean away.  Yet I can feel her being  and person, as if she were next to me now.  I especially remember very fun meetings for lunch or dinner in Valparaiso, IN in the late 90's or so.  On these several occasions , Dorothy drove Hans or Alex  to be picked up by me, their aunt in Ft. Wayne, to stay the week with our family or to drive on to a reunion with more cousins.  We were all hyped up.   It was always heart-warming  with Dorothy. We look forward to being connected online for the funeral  service. Klaus & Barb Weber,  Heidelberg, Germany

Picture it. . .  Affton, Missouri,  1952.  Dottie pulled into our driveway in her first car.  It's a beautiful day, I'm in the yard watching my mom hang out laundry on the cloths line.  We're all excited that Dottie was here.  She said, "Guess what?  They just opened the new Jefferson Barracks Bridge!  Wanna' go see it?"  Great excitement follows.  "You bet!"   Mom finished hanging the rest of the laundry, locked up the house, and we all piled into Dottie's car, and off we went.  In the back seat, my brother and I soaked up all the trivia Dottie was telling us about the new, 2-lane, mile-long, arching bridge that spanned the Mississippi River.  I was amazed to hear all the latest high-tech stuff about this new bridge, when Dottie remembers it's a toll bridge.  "Hey, does anybody have any change?"  My mom and Dottie looked at each other in shock.  It cost a dime to get across the bridge.  Remember it was 1952?  Nobody had money back then.  Dottie says, "No problem."  She drove us into Jefferson Barracks and found a look-out point from where we could see the new bridge from an angle.  East-bound cars stopped to pay their tolls and took off across the Mississippi River, and what a view it was!  I can close my eyes and still picture it!  What a magnificent span.  Kinda' funny that between all of us, nobody had a dime on them so that we could actually ride over it.  Already as a youngster, Dottie had an adventurous spirit.  My thoughts of her from youth on were of admiration.  Dottie would never get old.  She always lived life to the fullest.  When we got back, my mom said, "Wait!  I gotta get a picture of this."  She ran inside and grabbed her camera to snap a pic of Dottie and her new car.  I found it and gave it to Linda many years ago.  To me, Dottie was a living legend, just like her mom, Hildagard.  An amazing family, life-long friends through good times and not so good times.  God Bless you, Dottie.  I'll never forget you.  RIP.

Oh there are so many memories of Dorothy! My mother would bring us to her house during the summer months. She would talk about her driving a school bus and make us laugh. Many youth activities and dinners I remember. She was always warm and thoughtful. Choir...an alto for altos!! Many times the local choir would be small and Dorothy was able to carry the alto section. You will be missed Dorothy (sister Guderian)! Love you.

Aunt Dorothy!  You are so loved and will be so missed but I am grateful that you are in Jesus's arms and renewing relationships with Maw Maw and Tante Gussie and everyone else.  To the family, love and prayers for peace and wonderful memories that make you smile!  xo, Teresa

I remember going to Chicago to help decorate and celebrate Aunt Dorothy’s 60th Birthday celebration.  I got to spend a week with her learning about  our family…..talking about the Zerna’s and the Buehner’s.     Years later Aunt Dorothy would come to the Dallas/Ft Worth area to visit with me for a week. We laughed and laughed. This past May 16th, on Aunt Dorothy’s 93 birthday, I got to call her and sing Happy Birthday to her. We spoke of our visits together and how much we enjoyed them. Before hanging up the phone she said, “Thank you so much for calling, you made my day”. I love you Aunt Dorothy, you were my favorite Aunt…..Sandra (Mason) St Claire
