She was born in Muscatine Iowa on April 21, 1935 to Ethel Wagner Evans and Albert Evans. She grew up in Muscatine and graduated from Muscatine High School. She continued her education at Trinity College in Chicago and graduated with a degree in Christian Education. It was at Trinity that Diane met her beloved husband, Hans Schultz. She is survived by her husband, Hans, her children Kerry Schultz (Marina Franceschini partner); Carmen (Mark) Everding; and Tim (Lisa) Schultz; her grandchildren, Andy (Becca) Everding; Ryan (Laurel) Everding; Alyssa (John) Whitinger; Lauren Schultz, Sarah Schultz and Luke Schultz; her great grandchildren, Grant, Cal and Wes Everding; Madison and Caleb Everding; Charlotte and Lydia Whitinger.
