I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I have known him professionally for the past 12 years as he called on my hospital for work. I considered him a friend. He was always very polite, kind, and professional. Dave was a true gentleman who remembered the name of my daughter and my husband and would ask about them every time we met. I will definitely miss seeing his friendly smile here at the hospital where I work and I feel lucky to have known such a great man.

Ross and I are so sorry for your loss. Dave was a special man who lifted the spirit of so many. He will be dearly missed.

Karen, so sorry to hear about your loss. I knew David from football when he played at IWU. I played against him in high school (NCHS) in basketball and football. He was a talented athlete. I remember when it was announced he was coming to IWU to QB and how elated I was to have such a high quality caliber athlete join our team. What I didn't know was how blessed I would be befriending such a quality individual. Through the years we lost touch with each other. But, to me, he was always a friend and I miss him more even now. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am truly saddened by Dave's passing.  My son, Mike, played baseball with the Post 105 American Legion Team from Decatur.   He was an incredible baseball pitcher with a fast ball that was incredible.  He was one of the team mates that took Eisenhower to the State Basketball Playoffs while in high school.  My husband, Buzz and I loved Dave for being one of the kindest young men with a bright future.  Buzz always wanted him to play baseball in college feeling he would make the majors for sure.  Instead he chose to go to Purdue on a football scholarship.  Mike passes away in 1980 and Buzz in 2006, but how much both of them appreciate the athletic talent and the incredible kind person Dave has always been.  Tears in his passing and will continue to remember him for many reasons.  I am grateful that Dave passed through my life.   Marge Overlot, Bethany, Illinois

The world will not be the same without Dave Hood in it.  He was genuinely one of the most loving and kind people I know.  Our family is so blessed to have had the pleasure to have a friend in Dave.  The girls growing up together, dinners together, he and Bill coaching the girls together, and even a vacation.  
Such a down to earth humble man with so much love for his family.  You could go  for months not seeing each other, but he always remembered what our kids or family was doing and always asked  He sincerely cared about everyone.
What a mark he made on so many lives, so honored  to call him our friend, we will miss you greatly.

My brother, Brent and I, were fortunate to play baseball with Dave during the summers of our high school years.  He had a fastball that went unrivaled. I haven't been in contact with Dave for almost 40 years but I'm so sad to learn of his passing.  My heartfelt condolences to his family.
