David Otto Ebert

Of Arlington Heights

David Otto Ebert was born January 17, 1941 in Chicago to Herbert A. and Myra (nee Schnake) Ebert. He died March 26, 2021 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

David is survived by his wife Joanne E. (nee Schwanke) Ebert; his children David (Antonia), Daniel (Leigh), Elizabeth (Chris) Calato and Sarah (Joshua) Cossiboon; his grandchildren Hannah, Bethany, Sylvie, Ian, Charles, Liam and Jillian; his siblings Eunice (Gerald) Schalk, James (Jeri) Ebert and Juanita Ebert and by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister Linda Eaton and by his parents.

David Otto Ebert, devoted and loving husband to Joanne for more than 57 years. Served his country dutifully in Viet Nam, from 1966-68. Upon returning home, moved with Joanne to Arlington Heights, where, he remained an active member of the community for more than half a century. David was dedicated to his Church, St Peter Lutheran, where he served as an elder and a member of the choir. However, his greatest love was playing as a member of the Alleluia Brass Ensemble, with whom he contributed his talents on the Uphoniium. In addition to Church, David’s love of team sports lead to coaching and attending many little league baseball, basketball and softball games throughout the years. But, his highlight undoubtably came when he was pulled from the crowd and asked to play as a member of the famed Arlington Aardvarks 12 Inch Softball Team for one memorable inning. David also enjoyed many hobbies including, working in his vegetable and flower gardens and building wooden goods in his garage workshop. In his later years, he dedicatedly fed and bathed hordes of Northwest Suburban birds and squirrels in his backyard resort. His ultimate contribution may have been his role as the family’s staff photographer and video archivist. His expertise as a photographer funneled into another of his passions, airplanes. In his prime, David would spend countless hours at airshows or at the end of terminals and runways, positioning himself to get the perfect “nose to tail” shots.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Friday, April 2, 2021, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive, Arlington Heights, IL from 10 AM until the time of funeral at 11 AM.
