The Bacarella and De Frank families were neighbors way back when we all lived in the apartment
buiding 1409 W Ohio Street.
They were all were good, solid, hardworking people. My
Grandparents Katy and Tony Cardinale
and their daughter our mom Josephine)
lived with several other families.
This is is a story of how people were back in the days when Antoinette was a girl during the height of the Great Depression. All were effect, and most everyone in the neighborhood was out of work, and for the remainder of those hard, terrible years, they all suffered through the Depression holding on the best way they could. The landlord at 1409 W Ohio, Mr Di Frank told his tenants that he knew how desperate things were, and that he knew they were good, honest, reliable people. Then he said they could stay in their apartments rent free until they
could pay him. They all were grateful
for the offer and his trust in them. When the Depression ended and the men were employed once again and
had an income, every family paid back
Mr De Frank every cent of the back rent
they owed. To this our grandparents
and mom were eternally grateful, and
always told us children this story about the hard times and when people stuck together and helped each other.
Antoinette and all the other girls became wives, mothers, and grandmothers.
That friendship was strong even after most all of them moved from the Old Neighborhood. The ladies started the Girls' Club so they could continue to see each other and share their lives.
I well remember those meetings when they would be held at our home. I would listen to the stories about the past, their lives, and what was happening then. These were Lessons you can never get at school, and which I will always remember and pass along to my children.
I thank God for Antoinette and the people like her for that. And now on behalf of the entire Bacarella family we pray for Antoinette and all the De Frank family on her passing. She is now in God's Glory. Amen

Though I never met her, I feel as though I do through the words and deeds of her daughter, Angela. She will be dearly missed. Condolences to her family and sympathies to all whose lives she touched. - Phil
