Staley "Woody" H. Thomas, Sr., 73, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 24, 2021 following a brief illness.
Woody was born in High Point, July 9, 1947, a son of the late Staley and Vada Chandler Thomas. He was an Army veteran and a truck driver, retiring after 43 years of service. Woody loved his family, camping, visiting with his many friends and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Linda Murphy Thomas; three daughters, Brenda Gillis, Jackie Day, and Rebecca Newton and her husband David; two sons, Staley H. Thomas, Jr. and his wife Amber and Eugene E. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Lisa; four sisters, Merle Haggard, Wanda Railey, Jackie Nesbitt and Virginia Rothermel and her husband Bill; a brother, Joe Thomas and his wife Nancy; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Woody's life will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the Freedom Baptist Church, 214 Hillcrest Court by Pastor Clyde Akers with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to Randolph County Honor Guard, P. O. 1672, Asheboro, NC 27204.
