With her family by her side, Mrs. Carol Smith Ussery passed away Friday, December 23, 2016, at Hospice Home of High Point, after a four year courageous fight with breast cancer.
Carol was born January 16, 1963 in Guilford County to the late, Franklin Duane Smith and Nancy Jane White Smith who survives her. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Smith and Wayne Smith.
She was a graduate of Ragsdale High School class of 1981. Carol attended Jamestown United Methodist Church. She was employed with High Point Sprinkler for 25 years and recently with Aqua Fire Protection for the last four years. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her daughter, the beach, her Tuesday dinner with friends and going to the gym. She was a very caring and loving person who put others first and a friend without limits.
Carol is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mike Ussery; her daughter, Jamie Ussery Asbill and husband, David of Sophia; her mother, Jane Smith of Archdale; sister, Dawn Smith and Jerry Odell of High Point; brother, Craig Smith of Jamestown; two sister in laws, Char-Lee Smith and Lori Smith; two grandchildren, Jerzie and Cooper Asbill; four nephews and a niece; and her best friend companion Macy who kept her company when others couldn’t.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 28th at Jamestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Watford officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27th from 6 until 9 PM at Sechrest Funeral Home Archdale Chapel and other times at the home.

The family would like to extend a special heart felt thank you to nurses and staff at Hospice Home at High Point and Hayworth Cancer Center; Dr. Jason Huff and his nurse Jennifer Tuttle and Dr. Carey Anders of Chapel Hill UNC; and to all of her friends and family for all of the love, care, and support given to Carol during courageous battle.
