

Gaylene was a mother,daughter, sister, auntie and grandmother who will be missed dearly.Gaylene attended Morris Elementary in Mckinleyville, Hoopa Elementary and graduated from Hoopa High School in 1978.She was very proud of her Native Culture. One of her many talents was her beading. She loved to bead anything from jewelry to keychains. She was an was an All County Softball player at Hoopa High her Junior and Senior years. As sophomores, Gaylene and Gina Harmon were the first girls to play Varsity Baseball in Humboldt County! She enjoyed playing many years of softball with her
friends and family. She was semi-retired from playing, but Rowds could always come drag her out of bed on a weekend every now and again.
Gaylene worked over 10 years at the Elder Care Home in Hoopa, Laura's Kitchen and most recently at the Housing Department in Hoopa.She loved smoked salmon, but especially smoked deer meat with lots of pepper. You couldn't leave a deer ham unattended, because before you knew it, it was in the smokehouse!
Gaylene loved to be with her family especially her grand kids, Athos and Maile. She was very devoted to them and her family. She would do anything for her family. She protected her sister and little brothers on the bus when anyone would try to pick on them. She would make sure they wouldn't do it again.She loved to watched Saturday Night Live and her favorite character was Mary Katherine Gallager. Gaylene was our Superstar!
Gaylene was a teacher and mentor to many and a hero to many more. She was the rock that held it together when it seemed like all was lost.She didn't judge and when she loved, she loved unconditionally. She never took anything for granted and when in her presence, you couldn't help but smile or better yet laugh. She was a big kid at heart and wasn't afraid to show it. She always gave her all whether it was on the softball field, at home working for Papa Fish or playing in the kiddie pool with all of her many loved children.
Gaylene called many people her friends, especially Tunie Brown, Kathy Ducks, Angie Orlandi, Phyllis Robbins, Tanee Kane, Dana Rose, Amber Baker, Vivenna Orcutt and many, many more! She is survived by her father: Athos "Beercan" Jackson. Daughters: Alice Mabry And husband Darryl Mabry, Brandice Davis and fiancee Bobby Kane Jr, Lillian Davis and partner Bill McCovey, Janice and Kimmerz Davis. Grandchildren and partners in crime: Maile Almodovar and Athos McCovey. Sister: Jackie Risling and husband Tony Risling.
Brothers: Earl "Barney" Jackson/Sarah Jones and Heath "Bubs" Jackson/Stacey Abbott. Aunt Jennie Haight and Kathy Spinar. Uncle Jack and Mary Biondini, Uncle Ted and Debbie Biondini. Her other mother, Esther Davis. As well as partner Roland Davis. Also numerous nieces and nephews and various extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Jackson, Grandparents, Vesta and Adolf Biondini, Charles and Maxine Haight, Great Grandparents, Grace and Earl Hostler, Jennie Pollock and Uncle Bill Haight.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, October 23 at the Neighborhood Facilities at 2pm with reception following at the Church of the Mountains Community Center in Hoopa.
