Rose C. Carney
January 5, 1938 – January 21, 2019
Mom was born in Richmond, Kentucky where many of her relatives still reside. She was born Rose Carol West to Elwood and Evia West on Jan 5, 1938. She was the eldest of three, (her two siblings both now deceased) George and Lon West. They lived in Huntington Beach where mom grew up and attended High School.
Mom met and married dad Charles “Chuck” Carney on Feb 4th 1956. They moved to Garden Grove from Downey in 1964 when they started their family. They had three children, Brenda Kaye (Van Pelt), Stacy Suzanne (Pestana) and Charles Lane. Before dad’s passing in 2016 they had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
In 1978 they made the move to high desert where many of the relatives lived. Dad started his painting business and was one of the few painting contractors of that time. Mom helped with the business and ran the household becoming the domestic goddess.
She loved her beer and cigarettes as many will attest to. She was fun loving, beautiful and never left the house without her face on. She always dressed with class and loved to wear her hats. Those who knew mom knew she didn’t hold back and would tell you like it is.
Rose is survived many her children, Brenda (Robert), Stacy (Richard) and grandchildren Ryan Pestana, Adam Pestana, Brooklyn Grijalva, Austin (Brianna) Bolin and great grandson Logan. She also left many nieces, nephews cousins and in laws, and very good friends. She also had two sons in laws (deceased) Kenneth Van Pelt and Michael Pestana.
Mom will be missed by so many. She was that wild Rose that couldn’t be tamed. We love and miss you mom. Until we meet again.
