It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Dewey Cavit; a beloved Father, Grandfather, and friend to all. David passed away peacefully with his daughter; Jeneace McBurney and Grandson; Justin McBurney by his side.
David was born to George Dewey Cavit and Francise Louise Cavit in Wichita Kansas on February 6th of 1938.
Survived by his daughter; Jeneace McBurney (Patrick), grandson; Justin McBurney (Makenna), sister-in-law; Arletta Adams, nephew; Wes Adams (Isabel), niece; Cynthia Coley (Tom) and nephew; Lee Adams (Perri).
Predeceased by his loving wife; Betty Cavit.
David married Betty Adams in 1960 where they enjoyed sixty-three wonderful years together. He joined the Navy in 1957 and retired from Southern CA Edison in 1996. David was a wise and gentle man with stories to share. He would reminisce of days spent on the ranch, shooting competitions with Jeneace, his time in the Navy, but mostly loved speaking about Justin.
David was involved with several organizations. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He worked on a ranch, was an avid shooter, an NRA Hunter Safety Instructor, a Reserve Deputy (4X4 Unit), a member of the Single Action Shooting Society (SAS) and he served as a volunteer with Happy Trails Foundation, a member of the local Antique Engine & Tractor Club. He loved working in his shop; being creative and making horseshoe art.
David’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us.
