Aileen Anna Shellhammer, 94, died February 6th, 2022 in Rancho Mirage, California. Her visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with services at 11:00, March 14th, 2022 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Apple Valley, California.
Aileen was born on May 24th, 1927 to Harvey Melton and Anna Margaret (Rasmussen) Graham in Coyle, Oklahoma. She attended Progress School there and Plainview High School in Kansas. Later she would study nursing in St. Louis Missouri.
She married Hubert Warren Shellhammer on August 22nd, 1947. They enjoyed a long marriage together. Hubert passed away November 23rd, 2009.
Aileen was a talented seamstress, sewing dresses for herself and her daughter Kimberly, as well as paying clients who would come to her for custom made clothing. She was also a gifted artist later in life, and an avid gardener. She enjoyed her summer vacations visiting her siblings in Oklahoma and Kansas. When Hubert retired they frequently traveled in their motorhome. Aileen was a woman of faith and enjoyed cooking holiday meals for friends and family. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren, and they have many fond memories to cherish.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Anna Graham, husband Hubert Shellhammer, son-in-law William Kirwan, and siblings: Alice Willson, Cleo Graham, Dorothy Haught, Ted Graham, and Eva Mae Bostian.
She is survived by her son, Hubert Michael (Kathy) Shellhammer, daughter, Kimberly Anne Kirwan-(Mark)Schrader; 5 grandchildren: Jay (Karla) Shellhammer, Kyle Shellhammer, Courtney Kirwan, Payton Kirwan, and Wyatt Kirwan; and 2 great-grandchildren: Matilda and Luke Shellhammer; her brother Gene (Donna) Graham of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law Peggy Miller of Overland Park, Kansas; and many loving nieces and nephews.
