Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Yvonne Maud Thompson, was born to Jacob and Celeste Graham on November 19, 1939 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Yvonne was the matriarch of her family that spanned great distances from New York, Maryland, Florida, Jamaica and England. She was educated in Jamaica, where she attended Port Antonio Primary School, Merl Grove High School and Minott Commercial School. For over 20 years, Yvonne worked as a Secretary at the Ministry of Local Government in Port Antonio. Upon her retirement in 1982, Yvonne migrated to New York City where she worked at Graham Wyndham Children’s Facility and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), in Orlando, Florida.
From infancy, Yvonne was raised around the worship of our God Jehovah. After having a personal bible study and applying what she learned, she dedicated her life to serving Jehovah God in June 1988, and continued to serve him faithfully to the end.
Yvonne became tired of the harsh winters in New York and in 1994 along with her late husband, Lebert, relocated to Orlando, Florida. She immediately began associating with the Altamonte West Congregation, and subsequently Plymouth and North Apopka Congregations. Outstandingly, she was a faithful, devoted wife and sibling, who took care of her late husband and sister during their failing health. A gracious and hospitable host, her home was often a place where family and friends would gather and be entertained. Yvonne loved to cook! As soon as she found out that a family member would be visiting her, she began the planning and preparation of their favorite meals. We will all miss those delicious meals especially her banana fritters, ackee and salt fish, stew peas, sorrel, egg punch, goat head soup, and the list goes on…
Throughout her brief illness she continued to serve Jehovah to the best of her strength and ability. Attending the meetings, going out in the ministry, associating with the brothers and sisters were very important to her. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her sisters Delores “Pearl” Graham, Jean Graham (McBean), Edna Forbes, and husband Lebert Thompson. She is survived by her five children: Diana Rhodd, Veroney Joseph (and David Joseph), Mark Webb (and Sophia Webb), Dahlia Webb, Andrew Webb (and Julia Webb). Sisters: Thelma Graham, Evelyn Graham. Niece: Sheena Johnson (Vester Johnson), Nephews: Karl McBean (and Elizabeth McBean), Michael McBean (and Pamela McBean), Paul McBean (and Vania McBean). Grandchildren: Richard Burton, Delano Dryden (and Kolu Dryden), Victoria Burton, Dayna Joseph, Taryl Webb, Steven Webb, Nicholas Webb, Brandon Webb, Andrew Webb Jr. (and Karima Webb), Joel Webb, Julian Webb. Great-grandchildren: Kaiden Burton, Kemani Burton, Dekario Dryden, Jelena Dryden, Josiah Briggs, Daniel Webb, Jayden Webb, Nicholas Webb Jr., Jad Webb, and Ayan Webb.
