Mary Anne Pike

Mary Anne was born on June 16, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida to Elmer and Mary Dorsey. She resided in Jacksonville until she graduated high school in 1962. She then attended South Georgia State College in Douglas, Georgia. She found her love of travel and started working in the travel industry.

In the early 70’s, she moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia and worked in Atlanta as an airline reservationist for United Airlines. She met her husband, Rusty and married him in 1976. They moved to Chicago, Illinois where she continued her work with United Airlines and became a mother.

In 1980, Mary Anne moved with her family to Orlando, Florida for warmer weather. Here she worked for the AAA travel industry, and became a mother to another daughter. She stayed home with her girls volunteering at their school before returning to work as a reservationist for Piedmont/USAirways until she retired.

Mary Anne was a devoted mother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. After she retired she became the best care taker for her grandchildren, Jack and Lindsey. She loved to share stories and life lessons. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement.

In her free time, Mary Anne enjoyed traveling, photography, cars, technology, reading, volunteering at her children’s then grandchildren' schools, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of Conway United Methodist Church (currently Conway Community Church) and was a part of the New Beginnings Sunday School class and the church choir.

Mary Anne is survived by her loving husband, Harvard “Rusty” Pike, her children, Kelly (Matt) Bayer, and Erin (Rick) Olson, her grandchildren, Jack and Lindsey Bayer, and her sister, Marjorie (Buddy) Daugherty. She had three nieces and one nephew…Patti, Vicki, Sandra, and Rusty.

Her Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Conway Community Church at 3:00pm followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Conway Community Church.
