She was born in Cascade, Virginia, on October 12, 1932 to the late Dorsey Smith Ross and Lucy Dove Ross. As well as her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert Eugene Campbell, her sister, Doris Hite, and three brothers: Cabel Ross, Norman Ross, and Gordon Ross. Lois is survived by three stepdaughters, Valerie Campbell, Melanie Jones, and Natalie Wenzenski, all of Virginia.
Lois retired from Sears after thirty-five years of service. Beginning as a sales clerk in women’s fashion, she advanced to a supervisory position. It is no wonder that she was known for her beautiful, fashionable clothes and was quite the “clothes horse”.
In a list compiled personally by Lois, the things she found joy in was the love of her mother, the love of her husband and doing things to please him, like preparing his favorite foods, buying him nice clothes to coordinate with hers, traveling, listening to gospel music and attending concerts. Spending time with the children that she referred to as her “adopted” grandchildren, Dorrie, Jeffrey, Kaylee, and Jordan LeMaster, brought her great joy. Lois had heartfelt love for the entire LeMaster family.
Being outdoors doing flower gardening and vegetable gardening became Lois’s favorite past time after her retirement.
Last but definitely not least, Lois absolutely loved going to church. Until her husband’s declining health, you could always expect to see them there, in their coordinating attire. After her husband was unable to attend, it didn’t stop Lois. At 87 she was driving herself to church, followed by a friend picking her up on Sunday mornings. She was always ready and waiting.
As a member of Fellowship Bible Study Church of Ocoee, in lieu of flowers, Lois would appreciate donations made in her memory to the church’s benevolent fund.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 601 N. Park Avenue, Apopka, FL 32712 with funeral services to follow at 11 am. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 E Semoran Blvd., Apopka, FL 32703.
