Tom was a selfless man. He served his country honorably and proudly in the Army; he served in Iraq in 2003-2004. After completing his tour in Iraq, he returned to Germany where he met his wife-to-be, Alishia. They fell head-over-heels in love and were wed on August 20, 2005.
Tom was a loving and devoted husband. Alishia is his eternal soulmate whom he always spoke of with such love and affection. He adored her. Their legacy of love will live forever in the house of our Lord.
Their love created five beautiful children, true blessings from God: Hailey, Aliyah, Alayna, Danyelle, and Joshua. He was all dad; very hands-on and always available for his kids. Being a loving dad was the most fulfilling role of his life. He always made it fun for the kids and everything was about his family.
Tom was a beloved son, brother, and uncle whose life and memory will be cherished for the rest of our days. His loss leaves a huge void in our hearts.
Always looking at the big picture and how to make life sweeter, Tom and Alishia moved their family to North Carolina in December 2018; their personal promise land. Their life here was enriched by wonderful neighbors and friendships. Tom once said that he was, “privileged and blessed to have built close friendships that went far beyond the surface.”
Tom worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was respected by his peers for his infectious energy, dedication, and his stick-to-itiveness. He was appreciated for treating everyone with respect, his optimism, and gentle smile. Nothing ever brought him down.
Comments that define the essence of Tom’s personality shared by those that loved and knew him include: proud to call him my brother; most caring human being and father; warmest and kindest man I ever met; a witness to the testimony of Christ; impacted my life forever; an honest man of integrity; humble, and kind; funny; ad infinitum.
Tom battled his illness with incredible faith, bravery, courage and strength. On August 19, 2021, his 38th birthday, Tom was called by his Lord Jesus Christ and now rests in the house of our Father forever.
Family will receive friends and guests on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Apex Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held following the funeral service at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Rd, Cary, NC 27519.
