Skylar was loved by many and he touched the lives of everyone he met. His kindness, compassion and empathy for others was unmatched. He was born August 27th, 1999 in Greensboro and grew up in Holly Springs. Shortly after the death of his beloved Nana in 2018, Sky chose to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma with close friends where he was able to find his spark in life. In 2020, Sky decided to join the United States Navy, following in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather, “Grump”. He excelled in boot camp receiving 3 Bravo Zulus and was assigned to ACU-1 in Coronado after finishing A School in Great Lakes. His passion for anything containing an engine guided him towards a career in diesel mechanics through the Navy. He intended to continue his training and education to eventually become part of his Dad’s business at Apex Tuning. When he wasn’t spending his free time playing various video games and watching Anime he loved skateboarding, mountain biking, and was at his happiest feeling freedom riding motorcycles. His ambitions included exploring the world and loved swimming in the clear blue waters of the Caribbean with sharks, stingrays and other marine life. While in California, he invested in a camera and was learning the art of photography to document all his adventures.
He leaves behind his mother Nichole Jackson Chilton and dad Kevin Chilton of Holly Springs; brother Hunter Campbell of McLeansville; grandparents Kirk and Lynn Jackson of Oak Island, Kitty Shields of Kernersville; uncles Justin Comer of Greensboro, Robert and Tim Merrill of Murphy; and 4 beloved kitties, Phoenix, Orca, Dinah and Valentine.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Diane Perkins Jackson in 2018, his great uncles Douglas Shields in 2019, Jeff Perkins in 2021 and his favorite canine, Luna in 2018.
