Shari grew up in Indianapolis and began her career there. In the early 1960’s, however, she decided to spread her wings and she joined the Foreign Service. In 1962, she was sent to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where she met a young Marine Corps embassy guard named Herbert Jones. They married that year. After Honduras, they spent time in California, North Carolina and Indiana. Herb retired from the Marines in 1972, and they settled in Swansboro, North Carolina.
Herb died in 1995, and Shari missed him very much. She later moved to Apex to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters.
Shari is survived by her daughter, Lesley Fortier and her husband Guy of Apex, NC; granddaughters, Caitlin Fortier and Gillian Fortier of Apex, NC; sister, Nancy Peacock and her husband Jim of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
