I have many more of Scott, but I wanted to share this with whoever may cherish it.  RIP Scott

Scott was a big deal.  I made this meme many years ago and it was a j joke between us.  But he was a big deal to me.

The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have more time. You lived a life worth living that many a man would be envious of. 

From our initial contact in OEF (2002), to our standing up the MAROPS Section, OPSDET (BLACK PEARL, 2007-2009), to luncheons, dinners and drinks, and our bi-monthly 2-hour phone conversations about nothing and everything at the same time. You were more than just a brother-in-arms but a brother, not by blood, but by choice. Scotty2Hotty. RIP/ DOL.

I am very honored to have had Scott in my life. He was a great friend  and human. It really SUCKS he is no longer with us.
I have so many found memories of him. He was so caring, considerate and funny. From the voicemails that would be "Hey, Steve-o. Scott here, just thinking about you". Which I was thought hilarious as it sounded on my end. To the times we used to send each others kids to each others house with ever increasing beers. Little Josh running over with a 40-oz Miller Lite and trying not to drop it. Cassidy looking so confused on why she was bringing a beer over. Austin happy as can be to do it. So many great memories. We were so lucky to have you as a neighbor. I have thought about you often over the last few years, it was good to see you the few times I ran into you. I really regret not reaching out. Just a good reminder that life is so sort, don't waste it and make sure to stay in touch with so many. Scott was one of a kind. The world needs more Scott Joys.

Great fishing trip down to Palm Island with the boys!

Scott, Shane Creamer, and I took many great surfing trips in our early Army days.   We were all in the 514th signal company together.  This little signal company inspired us to go out and do bigger and better things in the Army.   Scott and I made the Army a career, while Shane decided to enter the private sector so he could surf more.   
Our surfing trips were always epic trips.  Paddling across the Masonboro Inlet through large jelly fish schools, at the end of a long day surfing.  Holding on to the buoy so we did not get swept out to sea.  Grabbing a cold beer after a great day and watching the sunset while talking about life.   Scott always had the biggest smile when he was doing something he loved doing.   He loved being a soldier and he was a great one.  Scott, I will forever miss you buddy and hope to see you and Shane again one day.  Until then, Rest Easy Brother.  

Scott was always such a kind soul.  Many prayers to Walker, Cassidy and Austin.  Heartbroken for all of the family.  Sleep sweet Scott.

First and foremost my condolences to the family and a big hug to his son.

Scott and I met at one of his favorite places, Callahan gym. We became gym bros and then close friends. While he was in the Q-Course I would try and recruit him to play Rugby at Bragg. Scott would bring me a SF selection packet weekly. 

We spent many a weekend in Fayetteville and throughout NC, always making sure we kept each other in line. I remember Scott petting his fish and me just laughing at his jokes. Scott was a gentle giant with a contagious smile, and I saw him mad once. What a pure soul and great friend. 

Scott was so much to so many. A loving son, brother and Father. A Green Beret, a warrior and my brother. I will miss the way we both answered the phone "Report" and the long heart felt talks. The great advice, Scott's amazing view on the world and life. 

Yes, I am devastated, sad and asked God why. I guess he needed another Guardian Angel in Heaven.

You were on my mind last week brother and I couldn't wait to talk my friend ..

Til Valhalla' Rest Easy Big Scott, I will see ya on the high ground and  we will be smiling and laughing again.. love ya brother..

To my brother:
How I wish I could be there today for your celebration of Life; I will truly miss you more than you will ever know.   I will always remember our long conversation we had, most times to where my phone battery was all but drained when we said our, “talk to you soon”.   I am truly honored to have called you my brother and my friend.  During your high school years and you lived with our family which you became a very important part of, and the fact that there was a very young 20-year-old, me and three other teenaged boys in the house you were the most levelheaded out of all of us.  I remember like it was just yesterday when I bought the 1976 Red Toyota Celica from you, and I had to teach myself how to drive a manual for the 1st time, man I ran that car till the clutch broke and I think I still drove it even with a broken clutch till it finally gave out and would not even move.  I was talking to mom the other day after we learned of what had happened, and she even recalled her last conversation with you and had proud you made her feel when you called her mama.  You never used my parents’ names you called them mom and dad, which I am grateful for because you never had to do that but you did it anyways, Christie was telling me the other day that even when you talked to her that you would always talk about mom like it was just in your nature to do so, the fact that my parents meant so much to you is why I will always call you my brother.   I would also like to thank you your service to this great country of ours, I am so proud of you and bragged about you all the time.   Scott, I will miss you and will see you soon, keep a watchful eye out for us from above and I know you will, rest in peace my brother.   


It is hard to believe, you are gone. You were always someone who led the way. You brought a lot of good to this world and you will be missed. I remember our days out at the trailer and at "The House of The Rising Sun" like it was yesterday. We had some great times....Making obstacle courses, going on rucks, going to the gym, going for runs and just talking. Our get togethers got a little crazy at times. I can remember sitting on the front deck of the trailer and talking until the sun came up.......Man!! I miss those days. I will see you  when I get there. Hold it down for me.

Thanksgiving 2020. To this day, Betty still talks about your beard. We miss you so very much Scotty and wish you were still with us. We love you so so much. 💛

So very sorry for your loss. Scott was a consummate professional and a great friend. I worked with Scott at Fort Bragg and I can honestly say it was an awesome experience. He was so professional and an excellent leader. He truly set the standard for all of us to follow. See you soon Airborne!

Scott, you will be missed! I will cherish our day fishing, the last time I saw you! You were like a son to me. I always loved you and your Sister! Hold a spot in heaven for me! I know your with the angels! I will hold you in my heart! RIP and God bless! 

This is a great loss to my family. Scott lived with us for a couple of years while he was in high school and became a big part of our lives! He always called me his mama.  Loved him with all my heart. Will miss him so much. Praying for the family
