Philomena Libman, at 93 years old, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2020 at her home in Cary, North Carolina. Born in Chicago on September 18, 1926, she lived in that area until relocating to NC in 2011.
Philomena lived a long, amazing life full of love, adventure, and success. Every Friday, you could count on her ordering Chinese takeout or dining in at local restaurants. The staff always knew her – she was a character worth remembering. After a 41-year career with Zenith Electronics, she retired at age 69. But not before filing patents to protect four inventions. Although she did not attend church, she was a woman of strong faith. Known for her fighting spirit, she believed in creating a better life for all. Even in her final days, she spoke of the importance of democracy and held strongly to her Democratic beliefs.
Through all her years earthside, family always remained her priority. She always had a pot of coffee and desserts on standby, ready for when someone needed her company. She loved fully until her last moments – something the family will carry forever.
She was the beloved wife of Oliver Libman; loving mother of Claudia (Mike) Thompson and Andrew (Marie) Libman; loving sister of the late Joseph (Josephine, Dolores) Intiso and Vincent (Catherine) Intiso; grandmother to five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; daughter of the late Nicolina and Anthony Intiso.
Visitation will be held at Apex Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Burial at Wake Memorial Park to follow.
