Phil was born in Okinawa, Japan, to Philip H. Warren, Sr., and Jean Stevenson Warren, on March 25, 1973. He married his wife, Nila Price Warren, on June 3, 2000, and was the loving father of two sons, Matthew and Trent.
He grew up in Marlton, New Jersey, becoming an Eagle Scout and graduating from Cherokee High School in 1991. He earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Graphic Communications from North Carolina State University in 1996.
Phil worked as a Senior Analyst at Xylem. Over the course of his productive career as a mechanical engineer, he also worked for Caterpillar Inc., Hunter Industries, Cree Inc., and Sensus, and acquired three patents. His resourcefulness, ingenuity, and entrepreneurship brought him much success.
He could often be found in his garage workshop, working on home improvement projects, woodworking, and automotive maintenance and repair. Phil willingly helped friends and family with their home repairs and computer problems. He was also an avid fan of Carolina Hurricanes hockey and NC State Wolfpack sports, and enjoyed tailgating with family and friends before football games. Phil especially loved coaching Town of Apex recreational baseball. His sense of humor and quick wit always put those around him at ease.
Phil was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Apex, where he served a 3 year term on the Building and Grounds Committee. He also enjoyed playing on the Salem Baptist church softball team for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Nila Warren; his sons, Matthew and Trent Warren; his mother, Jean Warren; his sister, Robin Goss, and her husband, Chris, and their children Rachel and Brandon, and his paternal grandmother, Nancy H. Wilkerson. Phil was preceded in death by his father, Philip H. Warren, Sr.; his paternal grandfather, Norman E. Warren, and his maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Fay M. Stevenson.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, 1821 N. Salem St., Apex, NC. The family will receive visitors after the service in the church fellowship hall.
