Paul Oliver Pruitt

Paul was born February 12, 1940, son of the late Joseph and Sarah Pruitt. He was married to Audrey Newcomb Pruitt for 46 years (Autry as he would call her), who preceded him in death in 2007.

Paul worked at the Mills in Danville, VA and Roxboro, NC with his wife and several family members, where he created some of his cherished moments. He ended his working career retiring from HVAC. He’s greatest joy was spending time with his family playing cards and dice, especially with the grandkids. He loved going with his son Ricky to Cherokee to gamble (blackjack was his chosen game there), along with going fishing, bowling and shooting pool with his family and friends. He was a joker and was cracking jokes on all of us to the very end.

Paul is survived by his three children Paul L. Pruitt Sr. (Dorothy), Tammy Eakes (John), and Ricky Pruitt Sr.; his sister Lily; 7 Grandchildren: Krystal (Walter), April (David), Ricky Jr. (Kassandra), Paul Jr., Nicholas, Michael, and Melissa (Chris); 10 Great grandchildren: Dominic, Hunter, Audriana, Savannah, Dean, Lance, Kaiden, Landon, Zoey and Josie.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a grandson Sgt. Lance Oliver Eakes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Apex Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1-2 p.m. Burial will follow at Apex Cemetery. Ricky Pruitt Jr., Paul Pruitt Jr., Dominic Lubitz, Hunter Lubitz, Nicholas Pruitt, and Landon Pruitt will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaiden Pruitt and Lance Pruitt.
