Patricia Ann Decker made her departure from this life to her eternal place in heaven on August 7, 2023. Patricia, “Pat”, as her family and friends called her, was born on June 20, 1939, in Jamesburg, NJ to parents, Hazel Brown and Joseph Collura. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather (Leonard Anderson) and one brother, Joseph Collura.
Pat met her husband, Curtis, on a blind date and the two married on August 27, 1960. This year they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Pat was a nurse, RN while living in NJ until she and Curtis moved their family to Cary from Hightstown, NJ in 1970. They put down roots in Cary that grew very deep. She volunteered for the Town of Cary Recreation Department as the coordinator of their XYZ program (Extra Years of Zest) for many years. She also worked for Wake County Public Schools and IBM in the Research Triangle Park. She loved her church, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and was a devoted Catholic. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered fondly by her family as the “matriarch” who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Pat is lovingly remembered by her husband, Curtis Decker, daughter, Dawn Winters (Mark), son, Mark Decker (Lisa), grandchildren Ashley Thompson (Paul), Alison Winters, Ryan Decker and Chris Decker, and great grandchildren, Oaklee (2) and Wilder Thompson (11 months).
