Norman R. Smith was born in Susquehanna, PA on January 31, 1931; he was the son of the late Louisa Smith Conley and John Smith and brother of the late brothers, Jessy, Earnie, and Joe and sisters, Kate and Iola. Norman was a loving and devoted husband to Evelyn Corey and father of sons, Richard and Norman and daughters, Maxine and Maureen. He was blessed with grandchildren, Tammy, Shelly, Casey, Dan, Ricky, Bob, and Denise; great-grandchildren, Seth, Rylee, Jacob, Chelsy, Nick, Sarah, and Emily and great-great-grandchild, Aden.
His life accomplishments included lead Designer and Lead Engineer at Singer Link Aviation Corp. Kirkwood NY. Vice president and co-owner of Matco Inc. and President and owner of RD&D Automation.
He was an accomplished musician who loved to entertain with any of the following Instruments: Electric Guitar - one of the best lead guitar players in the triple cities, but he also played Acoustic guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Accordion, keyboards, Piano, Harp, harmonica. He was also named KOA Music Man and was known up and down the East Coast in various KOA's.
Norman was also an accomplished evangelist known around his home town of Binghamton NY; welcoming friends, neighbors, and acquaintances into their home and spiritual family. He was known for telling story after story of days gone by, personal experiences, and testimony for our LORD Jesus Christ and GOD our Father. He was an author of a number of articles providing a way of proving scripture with science. None of these were published; however, one of his documents was received at the Vatican -- (disclosure - hand delivered and left near the library by his son while on vacation).
Through his music, his stories, or his unique style of evangelism via testimony, The Music Man Norman Smith touched many lives. His departure will leave a void that cannot be replenished. He was loved, and will be missed by many.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 6 pm at Apex Funeral Home, with family to receive friends following. Graveside services will be held at Riverhurst Cemetery in Endwell, NY on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm, assisted by Fischer-Scholder Funeral Home in Binghamton, NY.
