Mary Lou Grey James

Born on March 13, 1944, in Sheffield, Alabama, Mary was the daughter of the late John Charles Grey, Sr. and Betty Myers Grey.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold James.

Mary is survived by her three brothers: John Grey, Jr. and wife Mitzi of Pittsboro, NC; Paul Grey and wife Kathy of Thomasville, NC; and Bill Grey of Laughlin, NV. She is also survived by her two sisters: Joni Palmieri and husband Rob of Kernersville, NC, and Susan Lessig of Kernersville, NC. Mary Lou’s legacy will live on through her grandson, Jon Williams of Charlotte, NC, as well as her five nephews and four nieces.

A woman of deep faith, Mary found strength and peace in her relationship with God. Known for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, she had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her. Her intelligence, kindness, and faith were just a few of the many qualities that made her beloved by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held for her on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 11 am at her church, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 119 US Hwy 15/501 S, Chapel Hill, NC.
