Marion Louise Holste, 85 of Apex, passed away on March 27, 2023 after a courageous battle with multiple medical conditions, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy. Marion was born on February 5, 1938 in Malden, Massachusetts to the late, John and Marjorie Scott. As a transplant to Southern California in the 1950’s, Marion proudly worked in the Aerospace industry as an administrative assistant where her efforts supported the eventual development of America’s first space station, Skylab.
Later, with her husband, a USC graduate, Marion worked to help set up a dental practice from the ground up in Newport Beach, California. Through hard work and dedication, they proudly achieved the American Dream by the early 1970s. Marion moved to North Carolina later in her life to provide support to her son through his military deployments. There, she fell in love with fall colors again, but this time mixed with amazing southern hospitality.
In addition to her parents, Marion is preceded in death by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Joan and John McGowan. Marion cherished her relationship with her siblings, Joan McGowan, John Scott and Dottie Kurvers and their spouses John McGowan, Donna Scott and Craig Kurvers. Marion was proud her siblings’ children, John David, Brian, Steve, Scott, Brenda, Heather, Hillary and Holly. She maintained strong bonds with her sister in-law and husband Alice and Ron Bocksrucker and their daughters Sherrel and Allison as well as sister-in-law Fran. Marion is lovingly remembered by her son, Brian Holste and daughter-in-law Gilda Hernandez and their daughters Sofia and Leilah. Her son will miss taking Marion on tours through the country in a little red MG convertible looking for good BBQ. Marion would run to the phone when her friends Margaret, Nicki and Fran called, among many others.
Marion cherished her family and friends and loved to catch up and hear their stories. Marion loved emeralds and the color green. She adored her granddaughters Sofia and Leilah Holste and watched them grow with great pride. Marion loved her Alaska trips where she saw the bluest of blue in glacier ice. Marion will be sorely missed.
