Linda Marie LaMont Murdaugh passed Friday, March 25, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington, NC. Linda was born on April 26, 1941 in Logan, UT. She was the daughter of John R. LaMont and LaRene Dahle LaMont. She was preceded in death by her parents John and LaRene LaMont of Salt Lake, UT and in-laws William H. and Sadie Murdaugh Sr. of Southport, NC. Also her son Kenneth A. Murdaugh of Cary, NC.
Linda is survived by her husband Lt. Colonel Ret. William H. Murdaugh Jr., Wilmington, NC; her brother John F. and Arlene LaMont of Taylorsville, UT; her sisters Lana Jardine and Lorna Westin of UT. She is also survived by her children William H. and Kimberly Murdaugh III of Mercersburg, PA, Rick L. and Linda L. Murdaugh of Southport, NC, John D. and Tracy Murdaugh of Holly Springs, NC. Her grandchildren David Mullins of Marietta, OH, Jeffrey Murdaugh Orlando,FL, Brittany and Bruce Long of Southport, NC, Eric Murdaugh Orlando, FL, Emily Murdaugh Kernersville, NC, Amber Murdaugh Kernersville, NC, Brandon Dillon VA, Caleb and Garrett Dillion Myrtle Beach, SC. Her great grandchildren, Lexi Long, Michael Long and Caleb Long of Southport, NC.
Her greatest loves were her husband, family and God. She was so proud and loving of her Children, Grandchildren and her Great Grandchildren.
Linda enjoyed the life of a military wife and mother. She and her husband loved to RV and belonged to several RVing clubs. Linda and her husband not only traveled the world extensively but they lived abroad. She was so happy that she had the chance and opportunity to see the world.
Linda was dedicated to her church and had many friends in the church. Linda was loved and will be missed by many. We love you Mother.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams Street, Apex, NC 27502. Burial will follow the service at Wake Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
