Sue was born October 27, 1954 in Wake County to the late Kenneth Webb Black and Annie Laurie Ford Black. She was a graduate of Garner High School and attended Western Carolina University where she was a member of the Alpha Z Delta Sorority. Sue was employed with state and local government for 30 years, retiring from the Town of Apex in 2012 with 20 years of service.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Laurel Jo Jenks; son, Andy Jenks (Meghan) all of Apex; sisters, Debra Mitchell and Kim Alexander both of Holly Springs; grandchildren, Clayton Jenks, Cole Hill and Cheyenne Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 12:00pm Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Olive Chapel Baptist Church, 600 New Hill Olive Chapel Rd, Apex, NC 27502. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502 and other times at the Jenks residence on Richardson Rd.
