Katherine Williams Whittington, 91, a long-time resident Apex, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2013. Born in Angier, NC, Dec. 20, 1921, and a long-time resident of Apex, she was an active member of her beloved Apex Baptist Church and worked at the Medical Center Pharmacy for many years. Most recently she was a resident of the Brian Center in Mooresville.
Predeceasing her were her husband, John Marshall Whittington, Sr., son, Johnny, three sisters and seven brothers.
She loved her neighbors and many friends in Apex, all of whom were so kind and helpful to her as she became infirm in her later years.
Katherine is survived by her daughter Kathy Watson and son-in-law Jack Watson of Mooresville. Also surviving are three grand children, Dr. Kevin Watson and wife Amber of Salisbury, Lara Watson Durbin and husband Tom of Charlotte and Alisa Whittington Bailey and husband Chris of Zebulon, seven great-grandchildren: Zoë, Quinnlan, and Keeley Watson, Katie and Jake Durbin and Justin and Jackson Bailey; brother-in-law Warren Lee of Fuquay-Varina, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends, accompanied by a reception, will be held at the Apex Funeral Home from six to eight PM, Tuesday, March 19, 2013. The funeral will be conducted by Pastor Peter Dubbelman at eleven AM, Wednesday, March 20, also at the Apex Funeral Home, followed immediately by graveside services at Apex Memorial Park.
The family would like to express its deep gratitude to her Mooresville physician Dr. Thomas Gross and the staff of the Brian Center for their dedicated, professional care for Katherine during these last years of her life.
