A funeral service will be held 12pm Thursday, March 14, 2019 at McCullers Community Baptist Church, 133 Rand Rd, Raleigh, NC 27603. Burial will follow the service at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington. The family will receive friends 10am – 12pm prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Deal was born in Lee County on May 24, 1943 to the late Edward and Marie Deal. He was a founding member of McCullers Community Baptist Church. Mr. Deal was the owner of The Home Center, Inc., he took great pride in building this business for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, who stood by his side through life’s journey. Mr. Deal spent a lifetime working hard and enjoying time surrounded by family, especially at the weekly Sunday meals. He leaves a legacy of being a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Deal was an US Air Force veteran and his grandson, Travis Deal, followed in his footsteps of service, and is currently serving in the US Army.
He will be missed by his family and all that knew him. Mr. Deal was the leader of his family, and he set an example of how to continue in his absence.
Surviving include his wife of 54 years, Sydney K. Deal; children, Amie Thomas (Brian) of Holly Springs, Johnny Deal, Jr. (Karen) of Benson and Nikki Thigpen (Ryan) of Cary; sisters, Betty Wimberly of Raleigh and Barbara (Tommy) of Lillington; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and his beloved chocolate lab, Judy.
