John Junior Tillman, 83, of Cary, died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Mr. Tillman was born on January 16, 1929 to John James Tillman and Lula Glass Tillman.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lessie Herndon Tillman; daughters: Nancy Dawson and husband, Tommy of Apex, and Edith Pope and husband, George of Asheville; grandchildren: Chris Dawson and wife, Robyn, Jered Pope, Rebecca Pope and Lydia Pope, great grandchildren: Trevar and Jordan Betts. He is also survived by his brothers: Edwin (Ed) Tillman of Apex and Jack Tillman and wife, Alma of Durham.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. Apex. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial will be in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 6630 Good Hope Church Rd., Cary.
