John Lloyd Lewis, age 77, a resident of Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center, and formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away from this earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 14, 2015, following complications from a stroke and a long period of declining health. He was a native to Wake County, NC, and grew up in the Salem community of Apex. He was baptized at Salem Baptist Church, where he remained a member. John was the son of the late Lloyd Norwood Lewis and Bertha Beatrice Speagle Lewis Yates. He was a 1956 graduate of Apex High School and proudly served his country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Corporal. In 1963 he began a successful career in the airline industry with Delta Airlines that spanned over 32 years. He completed his initial orientation and specialized training with Delta in major airports located in Newark, New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois. Most of his career with Delta was focused at Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport where he served with great pride as a Senior Customer Services Agent. He was committed to providing an excellent travel experience for Delta passengers and was frequently recognized for his professionalism and dedication by Delta management and the people that he served. John’s handsome smile, friendly personality, and his quick problem solving ability provided a winning combination for the work that he so enjoyed.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the healthcare team of Westfield for their kind and loving care provided to John.
