John Hayes Cobb, 78 of Cary, died Friday, February 17, 2012. Prior to moving to Cary, he was a long time resident of Charlotte. He was born in Smyrna, Georgia, to Clarence Marion Cobb and Beatrice Dobbins on September 19, 1933.
He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Cobb of Cary; sons John, Jr. (wife Alison and grandson Jason) of Apex and Jay (granddaughter Ava) of Cary; sisters Doris Choate (Gerry) of Richmond, VA, Norma Key of Marietta, GA; and brothers Larry Cobb and Randy Cobb (Sue) of Marietta. Also surviving are special nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Smyrna High, attended Emory at Oxford, and graduated from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Chi Phi fraternity. After graduating, he served in the Army for two years. He was employed by The Cleveland Twist Drill Company as a service representative for 25 years. He then had to retire due to complications from multiple sclerosis. As long as he was physically able, he enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing.
Burial will be at a later date.
