Jason loved rock climbing and was pretty darn good at it. While he achieved great accomplishments in the competitive sport, he was truly happy climbing outdoors with his coaches and friends, specifically in Boone, NC, Red Rocks and the Red River Gorge, where we will spread some of his ashes so he can live forever in his “favorite place on earth.”
Through his own personal struggles with depression and addiction, Jason found a life of sobriety and service through the Insight program. At the time of his death he had just celebrated 16 months of sobriety. He was fully committed to helping the lives of others through his own experiences and was proud that he had found true happiness in his life.
Jason was naturally brilliant. He was often found doing math problems for fun or contemplating the physics of the world. He was particularly entertained by the Flat Earthers movement where he and his uncle spent many hours planning their attendance at upcoming conventions and laughing at its absurdity. He loved building gaming computers, solving Rubik’s cubes in record time, and hosting poker night with his friends.
The things he was most proud of in life were his service at Insight, his family (especially his sister) and his subwoofers in his car.
Jason leaves behind his mother and father, Anjana and Travis Wills, and his sister Samantha Wills, 15. No words can describe how special his relationship with his sister is, and his loss will be forever felt by Sammy. In addition, Jason leaves behind his grandmothers, Betty Bhuta and Teresa Wills, and grandfather Thomas Wills. Also surviving Jason is his extended family including David and Elizabeth Bhuta; Brian and Sarah Bhuta and their children Miles, Christian and Eve.
A private celebration will be held to honor and celebrate Jason’s extraordinary life and the lives that he impacted. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has requested donations be made to The Insight Program (www.mustardtree.net) or Camp Twitch and Shout (https://camptwitchandshout.org/) in Jason's honor - these were two organizations that were near and dear to Jason's heart and had a profound impact on him and his family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.apexfuneral.net for the Wills family.
