Janet Beryl Lynch Sullivan, 75, died May 19, 2013. She was born August 7, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Levi Thomas Lynch and Elizabeth Beryl McDaniel Lynch. She grew up in San Antonio, and in 1957, married John (Jack) Francis Sullivan, deceased since 1995. Jan lived her married life in Texas, Illinois, New York, South Carolina and North Carolina, moving to Cary in 1978. She enjoyed her retirement years at Emerald Isle before returning to the Raleigh area in 2003.
Jan returned to college after raising her children to earn a degree in Biology from Meredith College and went on to obtain a Master of Science Education from N. C. State University. She then taught Biology at Meredith College for several years before retiring to the beach with Jack. Jan enjoyed sewing, bowling, nature, the ocean and spending time with her family.
She is survived by: sons, Kevin and wife Stephanie of Hong Kong, Kerry and wife Hana of Sydney, Australia, Kenneth and partner Amy of Emerald Isle, and Keith of Morehead City; daughters, Kelly Sullivan Wyatt and husband Wesley of Apex, and Kimberly Sullivan Oestereich and husband Bill of Apex; sister, Valerie Lynch Post of Cumming, Georgia; and brother, Michael Daniel Lynch of Blanco, Texas. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Lee Lynch of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday August 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Apex Funeral Home Chapel with a gathering of family and friends to be held one hour prior to the services. Father Donald Steib will officiate at the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to 3 Irish Jewels Farm, c/o Erin O'Loughlin, 304 Allenhurst Place, Cary, NC 27518, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. The family acknowledges the support and care of Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Apex and Hospice of Wake County.
