Helen Brooks Mathis

Helen was born on December 21, 1929 in Newport, TN to the late Laski and Mary Brooks. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ida Ruth Davis.

Helen loved reading and was an avid collector of dog figurines. She also loved heart-shaped jewelry and any other items that were heart shaped. Many of her summers were spent planning and taking family trips, which included trips back and forth from California to North Carolina and many points in between.

She is survived by her husband of an astounding 73 years, Maurice Mathis; daughter Teresa Ellis and her husband Norm with three sons, Timothy, Matthew and Peter and 3 great grandchildren; Harriett Mathis with two sons Tyler and Cody Riley and three additional great grandchildren; Lynn Eskridge with two daughters Kailyn and Kari. Also, many wonderful friends at Salem Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
