Gerald “Jerry” Edward Matus, 76, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 19, 2015 at Rex Healthcare. Born on August 6, 1939 in Allegheny Co., PA; he was the son of the late Edward Gerald Matus and Clara Almacy Matus.
Jerry managed multiple locations of grocery stores in the Pittsburgh area. He owned and operated a restaurant called the Village Dairy in Moon Township and later was a successful manager at other businesses before retiring. Jerry was very active on the Board of his HOA, an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling, cruising, desserts and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Laraine Matus; sons: Edward Matus and wife, Lori, of Cary, NC and Kevin Matus and wife, Cindy, of Perrysburg, OH; daughter: Shari Reed, of Wintersville, OH; grandchildren: Bradley McElhaney, Chris Schmidt and Nolan Matus; sister: Carole Bailey and husband, Donald, of Clarksville, TN; and other family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2015 from 2-4 pm at Apex Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org
