Emily Mary Perrotta Smith

Emily was born April 8, 1946 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late James Frank Perrotta and Ellen Mansfield Perrotta. She was strong willed and determined by nature. Emily loved to be surrounded by friends and family and would be the first to suggest playing a hand of cards. She found much pleasure in cooking and sharing her recipes with family. Emily moved to Providence, NC to be able to spend more time with family after retiring from Marist College where she was admired by all her co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Andrew Franciamore.

Emily is survived by her husband of 49 years, Hugh Warren Smith; sons, Scott Randy Smith and wife,Nikki and James Michael Smith and wife, Allison; brother, Frank Perrotta and wife, Louann; sisters, Margaret Franciamore, Sandy Rotolo and husband, Tony; and Nancy Nauta and husband, Brian; grandchildren, Brendan Holahan, Bryanna Smith, Brandi Paxton, Brooke Paxton, Mikayla Smith and Kai Smith.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. Burial will follow the service. The family will receive friends 1-2pm prior to the service.
