Hey Dee,

I just saw this I am soooo sorry.  Eddie was such a good man.  I don't have the words to say.  But you know where he is,and you'll be together again. Sending up prayers.

Many many years ago, Eddie was a wonderful friend with a kind gentle way about him. We lost touch after school; but one day, "out of the blue," I was reminded of his friendship and deep faith in a time of profound grief.  He sent me a letter after the death of my brother that was so compelling, so insightful, so healing, and so needed!!  I remembered again his kind gentle way as he drew from his faith and his understanding of God's Word to offer comfort and hope in the time of great sadness!  I regret that our paths never crossed again!!  Dear Windley family, I pray for God's Strength and Love to surround all of you during this time in the life of Eddie's earthly family!!

My husband and I met Eddie in 2015 when we were on a mission trip in Florestópolis.
Since then, Eddie has adopted my husband Ary as his son and we have become part of his family.
That's how we felt, part of the family, even though we lived so far away.
Eddie and Dee were praying for us, always making sure we were doing well in all areas of our lives.
I could tell you many things here, but I'm going to talk about grandpa Eddie.
When our son Arthur was born in 2017, Eddie made a point of visiting us.
Arthur was just over a month old in this photo and grandpa Eddie held him with so much love!
In 2021 we were surprised by a diagnosis. Our 3 year old son had cancer (lymphoma).
Eddie and Dee prayed without ceasing, mobilized their church to pray too, and
showed a love and empathy for our family that warmed our hearts.
They were thrilled with us when the news of Arthur's cure came.
We're immensely grateful to God for Eddie's life in our lives!
It was clear that Eddie was an imitator of Christ, a disciple who made a difference in the Kingdom of God.

I met Eddie in 2015, here in Brazil.

Upon hearing my story, especially about my relationship with my father, he was willing to be by my side, affectionately calling me his son.

When he left for the US, I thought this was going to be lost. But not. We exchanged countless emails, spoke on Facetime several times, he came to meet my son Arthur and slept in our guest room.

Like a good father, he prayed for me, for my studies, for my family and ministry, always asking how things were going.
Arthur's and Sophia’s (my daughter) names was on the birthday calendar with those of the other grandchildren and, along with mine and Carol's (my wife), decorated the house's Christmas decorations.

I always thought I'd meet him again, maybe in America, where he'd show me his old cars, the garage, the backyard.
But life has surprises in store for us and divine providence has revealed itself in another direction.

The heart is tight; the longing and the lack hurt.
The memory of a man of whom the world was not worthy will remain. A sweet, sensitive gentleman, a disciple of Jesus, the closest I've ever had to a fatherly presence on this earth.

I loved walking with Eddie and helping him talk to the children during the mission days in Florestópolis. It was as if I was his official translator (at least, that's how I felt), and I loved it! He always carried some kind of candy in his pocket and went giving it out to the kids. He was everybody's grandfather, he brought sweetness to the suffering of those children. He was used by God, the name of the Lord was glorified through Eddie's life! I will cherish these memories forever in my heart!

Eddie was my only "grandpa". I once shared with him that I have never had a grandfather and he just took the role! He embraced Krystin and I, and later also my son, Rafael, as his owns. Our beloved friend and simply the person we know that is most like Jesus that we've ever seen. He was always praying for us, always asking how were we. We will see him again, when we get together in heaven. Until there, we will always remember his smile, his joy, his soft and tender hugs, his awesome advices and follow his example as a follower of Christ. 

I have a lot of great memories growing up together.  Pine Town was our play ground.  Basketball, Hunting and Fishing.  I always looked up to Eddie, because he was bigger than me!  No I looked up to him because he had this gift of great leadership.  
I WANT TO THANK HIM FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE COUNTRY.   PEOPLE ALWAYS THANKED ME FOR MY SERVICE, THE LORD PUT US HERE FOR A PURPOSE AND WE ALL SERVE THE LORD IN DIFFERENT WAYS.  I WELL MISS YOU EDDIE

I will always remember Eddie from my years at The Bridge Community church in Morrisville NC. He always greeted me as soon as I approached the front door before services. He and Dee were kind and welcoming. They both worked tirelessly to facilitate church services every week. Eddie and I worked side by side cleaning Sunday school class rooms on group church workdays. I also enjoyed joining he and Pastor Mike for services at a local senior living facility. I saw in him a kind and devoted husband and father, but most importantly he was a faithful servant to Jesus Christ. He is missed.

Our deepest sympathies as we know this is a trying time for all of you.  He was surrounded by so much love that I am sure he took that with him.  Holding you all close in our hearts.

Dee, the Angels are singing.  Eddie was such a good  person  in all ways.  His love for his God, his family and friends. It was always good to sit and talk with you and him.   His race was run and he ran it well!
God keep you in his tender care.
